Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of a 59-year-old Laven­tille man, whose body was found at his home on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion were con­duct­ing a road­block ex­er­cise at around 1 pm when they re­ceived a re­port that a man's dead body was found at Priz­gar Lands, Laven­tille.

Of­fi­cers vis­it­ed the scene and were led to the side of a house where the de­com­pos­ing body of Vol­lis Thomas was found in a la­trine.

Of­fi­cers were told by a rel­a­tive that Thomas lived alone and was last seen alive on Sep­tem­ber 14.

He had no known ill­ness­es.

Po­lice said there were no no­tice­able marks of vi­o­lence.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer was called in and de­clared Thomas dead at the scene.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be con­duct­ed to de­ter­mine the cause of death.
