Police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old Laventille man, whose body was found at his home on Sunday afternoon.
Police said officers of the Besson Street Police Station were conducting a roadblock exercise at around 1 pm when they received a report that a man's dead body was found at Prizgar Lands, Laventille.
Officers visited the scene and were led to the side of a house where the decomposing body of Vollis Thomas was found in a latrine.
Officers were told by a relative that Thomas lived alone and was last seen alive on September 14.
He had no known illnesses.
Police said there were no noticeable marks of violence.
A district medical officer was called in and declared Thomas dead at the scene.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Region I Homicide Investigators are continuing enquiries.
