A Laven­tille teenag­er drowned while bathing in Ch­aguara­mas on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon. 

Po­lice said around 3 pm Isa­iah Pem­ber­ton, of Priz­gar Lands, Laven­tille went to a beach be­hind Five Is­lands Wa­ter­park, Ch­aguara­mas with rel­a­tives. 

While bathing, Pem­ber­ton and oth­ers got in­to dif­fi­cul­ty. At­tempts were made to pull him out of the wa­ter; how­ev­er, he was pulled out to sea by the strong cur­rent. 

Emer­gency re­spon­ders and health ser­vices were called in to help. Coast Guard divers even­tu­al­ly re­trieved his body around 4 pm. 

He was tak­en to the St James Med­ical Com­plex, where at­tempts were made to re­vive him, which proved fu­tile.

Pem­ber­ton was a stu­dent of the San Juan North Sec­ondary School.
