Leave everything in God’s hands. This is the secret to longevity according to Eugenia Blizzard who celebrates her 101st birthday today, March 27th, 2022.
Blizzard was the first person registered to the National Centenarians Programme (NCP) following its relaunch on December 13th, 2021.
Her daughter Florence Blizzard, registered her mother for the NCP stating that she saw it fitting as the elder Blizzard had paid her dues to the country.
On behalf of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, Director of the Division of Ageing, Dr Hyacinth Blake visited the centenarian and presented Blizzard with a Certificate of Honour and Achievement.
Blizzard also received a cake sponsored by the Kiss Baking Company and a hamper for achieving the milestone.
Dr Blake told the family that it was indeed a pleasure to honour Blizzard as living to and beyond 100 is an impressive milestone. Dr Blake was also surprised to learn that Florence Blizzard was Senator Donna Cox’s former history teacher.
The former clerk also provided advice to the younger generation. According to the mother of seven, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to one, if the younger generation wants to live a long and prosperous life, they should pray and trust in God, further noting that God answers prayer.
