The long-delayed Preysal Government Primary School and Palmiste Government Primary School are among the education projects Housing Minister David Lee says are priorities for completion.
Lee said the Government was working towards completing the Preysal school, which has been operating from the Preysal Community Centre since 2014 after work on a new school was halted.
The Palmiste Government Primary School, which was destroyed by fire in 2023, is also a priority.
“I’m working with the Minister of Education to ensure that these schools are completed,” Lee said.
Lee was speaking with Guardian Media yesterday while delivering hundreds of schoolbags to students in his Caroni Central constituency from his Mission Road, Freeport office.
The initiative, known as the Backpack for Hope programme, is now in its 12th year and began when Lee was the MP for Point-a-Pierre.
Lee said more than 600 schoolbags, containing stationery needed by students for the new academic year, would be distributed over two days.
