Residents of Caroni Central can expect improvements in their water supply in the near future, newly elected MP David Lee promised yesterday.

Lee, who has been appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Development in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, spoke about his plans for the constituency during his victory motorcade through Preysal, Couva.

He said he had already initiated discussions with officials from the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) to negotiate an increase in the water supply, which has been limited to twice a month for the past nine years.

“They have given me the assurance that a better supply of water will come to the people of Caroni Central in a very short time,” Lee said.

In addition to water supply, Lee said he would prioritise the reconstruction of the Preysal Government School and Palmiste Government School. Both schools have been operating out of temporary facilities for several years—Preysal at the Preysal Community Centre for more than a decade, and Palmiste at the Longdenville Government School and the Edinburgh Community Centre.

He also highlighted road infrastructure as a key concern.

“They don’t want anything else,” he said, emphasising that residents were eager for tangible improvements in road conditions across the constituency.
