Re­gion­al car­ri­er LI­AT 2020 will be ex­pand­ing its ser­vice to the British Vir­gin Is­lands ahead of the busy Christ­mas sea­son.

Ac­cord­ing to LI­AT of­fi­cials, the ser­vice will launch from Beef Is­land on No­vem­ber 29, with a spe­cial US$99 one-way fare for its in­au­gur­al flight.

“We are con­nect­ing you back to the rest of the Caribbean. We are very ex­cit­ed at LI­AT 2020,” said LI­AT’s 2020 Head of Com­mer­cial and Cor­po­rate Sales, Ele­na Dy­er. 

The pro­mo­tion­al one-way fare of $99, plus tax­es, will ap­ply to flights be­tween No­vem­ber 29 and De­cem­ber 12, with on­ly 48 seats avail­able un­der this of­fer. Af­ter De­cem­ber 12, the air­line will re­vert to its reg­u­lar fare struc­ture.

LI­AT 2020, based in An­tigua and Bar­bu­da, aims to pro­vide re­li­able, af­ford­able, and con­ve­nient air trav­el for the re­gion. Ac­cord­ing to Dy­er, the com­pa­ny is fo­cused on im­prov­ing re­gion­al con­nec­tiv­i­ty.

“What we are striv­ing to do is en­sure that we con­nect the north to the south and back up,” she stat­ed. “I think re­gion­al trav­el, it’s some­what bur­den­some.”

The air­line is ac­tive­ly en­gag­ing stake­hold­ers, in­clud­ing trav­el agents, to ad­dress con­cerns such as flight re­li­a­bil­i­ty and seam­less same-day con­nec­tions. Roberts em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of these fac­tors for pas­sen­gers.

“Re­li­a­bil­i­ty, that’s num­ber one. We want a re­li­able car­ri­er, [with] same-day con­nec­tion,” he not­ed.

Look­ing ahead, LI­AT 2020 plans to ex­pand its net­work to in­clude des­ti­na­tions such as San­to Domin­go, Guyana, and Grena­da. These de­vel­op­ments aim to tack­le the chal­lenges of re­gion­al trav­el and make it more ac­ces­si­ble for Caribbean peo­ple.
