Regional carrier LIAT 2020 will be expanding its service to the British Virgin Islands ahead of the busy Christmas season.
According to LIAT officials, the service will launch from Beef Island on November 29, with a special US$99 one-way fare for its inaugural flight.
“We are connecting you back to the rest of the Caribbean. We are very excited at LIAT 2020,” said LIAT’s 2020 Head of Commercial and Corporate Sales, Elena Dyer.
The promotional one-way fare of $99, plus taxes, will apply to flights between November 29 and December 12, with only 48 seats available under this offer. After December 12, the airline will revert to its regular fare structure.
LIAT 2020, based in Antigua and Barbuda, aims to provide reliable, affordable, and convenient air travel for the region. According to Dyer, the company is focused on improving regional connectivity.
“What we are striving to do is ensure that we connect the north to the south and back up,” she stated. “I think regional travel, it’s somewhat burdensome.”
The airline is actively engaging stakeholders, including travel agents, to address concerns such as flight reliability and seamless same-day connections. Roberts emphasised the importance of these factors for passengers.
“Reliability, that’s number one. We want a reliable carrier, [with] same-day connection,” he noted.
Looking ahead, LIAT 2020 plans to expand its network to include destinations such as Santo Domingo, Guyana, and Grenada. These developments aim to tackle the challenges of regional travel and make it more accessible for Caribbean people.
