A 51-year-old Malick man was shot and killed while liming at his home with friends on Friday.
Police said Junior Joseph, alias “Fisher”, was in the yard of his Basement Road, Upper Seventh Avenue, home at around 5.30 pm when a silver Nissan AD Wagon drove in front of his home.
Gunmen in the car shot at Joseph and his friends before driving off. Joseph’s friends took cover and later noticed that he was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his head.
They took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he was declared dead at 6.03 pm.
Police from the Morvant CID visited the scene with homicide investigators and officers of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU), where they found a live round of 9 mm ammunition and a spent shell.
It is unclear whether Joseph was the intended target of the gunmen, as there is no known motive.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing inquiries.
1 dead, another wounded in Belmont attack
An attack in Belmont yesterday morning left one man dead and another wounded.
Police said a blue Nissan Wingroad was seen driving down McKai Lands, near Lady Young Road, at around 11 am.
Four men got out of the car and shot 33-year-old Nigel Antoine, alias “Speedy”, several times, killing him.
A 29-year-old man was shot in the hip during the attack and taken to the hospital, where emergency surgery was expected to be done.
Police from the Belmont CID, the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I, and crime scene investigators visited the scene, where they found 27, 5.56 and 19, 7.62 spent shells.
