In­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue in­to a fa­tal hit-and-run ac­ci­dent yes­ter­day morn­ing in Ari­ma.

Po­lice said Si­mone Rose, 45, of Mal­oney Gar­dens, was killed on the spot.

Of­fi­cers said the ac­ci­dent oc­curred around 6.30 am along the east-bound lane of the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way, O’Meara, as Rose ex­it­ed a taxi on the shoul­der of the high­way.

High­way Pa­trol of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to the re­port and found the vic­tim.

Eye­wit­ness­es claimed Rose came out of the taxi and was stand­ing on the shoul­der when she was struck by an on­com­ing ve­hi­cle. The dri­ver of that car, af­ter strik­ing Rose, sped off and failed to stop.

On­look­ers were un­able to pro­vide of­fi­cers with a li­cense plate, ex­cept to de­scribe the ve­hi­cle as white.

Emer­gency Health Ser­vices (EHS) were con­tact­ed and took the woman to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal, where she was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Any­one with in­for­ma­tion has been urged by in­ves­ti­ga­tors to con­tact the near­est po­lice sta­tion.
