A man who was found severely beaten in Port-of-Spain during the early hours of Thursday, remained hospitalised in a critical condition yesterday.
The unidentified East Indian man was found near Victoria Square around 2.45 am.
Officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force responded to reports that a body was seen at the corner of Duke and Victoria Streets, and later found the victim unresponsive.
He was wearing a long blue pants and a blue jersey and was described as five feet, eight inches tall; with a short hairstyle, moustache, short beard, greying hair, and an oval face.
The victim was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he was treated for cranial and spinal injuries, along with internal bleeding.
He was later warded and placed in an induced coma, and remained in that condition up to last evening.
A bloody wooden stick, estimated to be about four feet long, and believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered close to the victim by officers.
Anyone with information as the victim’s identity are asked to contact the nearest police station.
