Nazrudeen Sookoor, also known as “Moko”, a 32-year-old labourer from Princes Town, has been charged with the murder of a 57-year-old woman who was shot on 27 January 2025 and died weeks later.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the woman was standing at the front of her Cedar Hill Village home around 10.50 p.m. when a man entered the yard, fired several shots, and ran off. She identified the shooter before being taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where she died on 18 February.
Police later arrested Sookoor and reportedly found him with a black and silver Browning 9mm pistol and an extended magazine containing three rounds.
Following investigations led by PC Basdeo, and under the supervision of senior officers of the Southern Division and Homicide Bureau Region III, a file was submitted to the DPP. Deputy DPP Sabrina Jaglal advised that Sookoor be charged. He is expected to appear before a magistrate this week.
