A Port-of-Spain man charged with mur­der has been or­dered to un­der­go a psy­chi­atric eval­u­a­tion af­ter ap­pear­ing be­fore a Mas­ter of the High Court.

Sean Per­ry, 53, of Cipri­ani Boule­vard, was charged with the mur­der of Richar­do Duke, which oc­curred on Oc­to­ber 7, 2025.

Per­ry ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter In­di­ra Chinebas in the High Court on Tues­day 21 Oc­to­ber 2025.

He was or­dered to un­der­go eval­u­a­tion at the St. Ann’s Psy­chi­atric Hos­pi­tal and is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in court on No­vem­ber 4, 2025.

Duke, 60, al­so known as “Bay Leaf Man”, of Nel­son Street, Port of Spain, was found in the Wood­brook dis­trict on Oc­to­ber 7, 2025, with wounds to his body fol­low­ing a re­port of se­ri­ous wound­ing. He com­plained to first re­spon­ders of dif­fi­cul­ty breath­ing and was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he died while re­ceiv­ing treat­ment.

A male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the Wood­brook Po­lice Sta­tion on Oc­to­ber 12, 2025, in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP (Ag.) Ram­jag, In­sp. (Ag.) Stanis­laus, In­sp. (Ag.) Seecha­ran, and In­sp. (Ag.) Ram­sumair, all of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion One.

Per­ry was charged by PC Lewis, al­so of HBI Re­gion One, on Fri­day 17 Oc­to­ber 2025, fol­low­ing ad­vice from Act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Sab­ri­na Dougdeen-Jaglal.
