A 50-year-old man was chopped and robbed of $30 while walking in Aranguez early on Friday morning.
Police said the man was walking on the Aranguez Main Road, around 4.30 am when he was confronted by a man who demanded his money.
The bandit pulled out a cutlass and chopped the man on his right leg and snatched his cellphone and cash before running away.
The wounded man flagged down a passing ambulance which took him to hospital where he was treated for a ruptured tendon. Officers of the Barataria CID were called in and are watching security camera footage of the incident as part of their enquiries.
