A San­ta Cruz man died whilst be­ing treat­ed at hos­pi­tal, af­ter he was am­bushed and shot by four masked men at his home yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Reynold “Blondie” Jef­frey, 28, was re­port­ed­ly sur­prised by the sus­pects around 8 am, fol­low­ing which rapid gun­fire was heard.

It was al­leged the sus­pects lat­er es­caped in a wait­ing car.

Rel­a­tives liv­ing near­by heard the gun­shots and up­on check­ing, they found the vic­tim bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple wounds about the up­per and low­er body. They rushed him to the San­ta Cruz Health Cen­tre where he was ad­mit­ted but suc­cumbed to his in­juries short­ly there­after.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors were un­able to de­ter­mine a mo­tive for the killing up to yes­ter­day, as they said Jef­frey was not known to be in­volved in any il­le­gal ac­tiv­i­ty.
