A man is in custody after police seized two firearms, ammunition and cannabis during State of Emergency operations in the Western Division.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service reported that officers of the St James Criminal Investigations Department conducted a Steady Guard Operation between 11 pm on Sunday and 3 am today.
During the exercise, officers went to a house in St James where they carried out a search. They found a Glock 19 pistol loaded with an extended magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition. Officers also discovered and seized a bag containing 277 grammes of cannabis.
Police arrested a male suspect who was on the premises at the time in connection with the findings.
Snr Supt Williams sanctioned the operation, while ASP Aguilera, Insp Grant and Insp Bassant coordinated the exercise. Officers from the Western Division Task Force and St James Police Station also took part.
In a separate exercise, officers conducted an operation between 6.45 am and 8.30 am on Sunday, 29 March 2026 along the Western Main Road in Chaguaramas. During that exercise, officers attempted to arrest a male suspect, but he escaped.
Officers searched the area and found a pistol loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.
Police said investigations into both matters are ongoing.
