A 39-year-old man is ex­pect­ed to be charged for pos­ses­sion of an il­le­gal firearm and am­mu­ni­tion af­ter be­ing held by of­fi­cers of the Bar­rack­pore Po­lice Sta­tion yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, the of­fi­cers ar­rived at the Croix Road, Lengua Vil­lage home of the sus­pect at 6:00 am on June 5th.

Up­on spot­ting the of­fi­cers, the man jumped through a win­dow and be­gan flee­ing from the of­fi­cers.

A chase en­sued and he was quick­ly ap­pre­hend­ed.

The of­fi­cers then searched the man dur­ing which they dis­cov­ered a .38 re­volver and six rounds of .38 am­mu­ni­tion.

He was im­me­di­ate­ly ar­rest­ed and tak­en in­to po­lice cus­tody where he is ex­pect­ed to be charged by lead in­ves­ti­ga­tor, PC Khan.
