Po­lice are on the scene of a shoot­ing at Base­ment Road, Mal­ick, Barataria, where five peo­ple in­clud­ing a child were shot around 7.45 am to­day. 

One man was said to have been killed and his body re­mains on the scene at this time. 

While in­ves­ti­ga­tors strug­gle to col­lect foren­sic ev­i­dence as rains ham­per their ef­forts, res­i­dents and chil­dren at a near­by preschool could be seen peep­ing out. 

Sev­er­al peo­ple ex­pressed anger that close to two hours af­ter the shoot­ing, the body of the dead man re­mained un­cov­ered for all to see which they said was trau­ma­tiz­ing for the chil­dren and their par­ents.

One grand­moth­er rushed to col­lect her grand­daugh­ter who hud­dled in­to her arms as she said it was a fright­en­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. The child who was in­jured was said to be four years old.
