A family is mourning as the new year approaches following a fatal road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Gasparillo early Sunday morning.
Police said Eoin Kazim Peters, 21, of Arjoonsingh Drive, Dumfries Road, La Romain, died after he became pinned under a Kia H100 pickup.
Investigators said that around 3 am, officers received a report of a crash along the southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Gasparillo Overpass.
At the scene, they found a white Kia H100 pickup, registration TCN 8807, about 30 feet off the eastern side of the roadway in nearby bushes. The vehicle had flipped onto its side near Fens Warehouse.
Fire officers used the jaws of life to remove Peters’ body from beneath the vehicle.
A district medical officer later visited the scene, pronounced Peters dead, and ordered the removal of the body to the San Fernando Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are continuing.
