One man is dead and two others injured after a three-vehicle collision in Arima on Saturday evening.
Police said around 6.20 p.m., a grey Honda Vezel heading east along the Eastern Main Road near the Immigration Detention Centre attempted to overtake a line of vehicles by filtering onto the westbound lane. The Vezel collided head-on with a white Honda Civic driven by 39-year-old Mickel Nelson of Sangre Grande.
Nelson was taken to the Arima Hospital by passers-by but was declared dead around 8 p.m.
A red Nissan AD Wagon was also hit during the crash. The 71-year-old driver received minor injuries and was treated and discharged later that night.
The 48-year-old driver of the Honda Vezel was taken to the Mt Hope Hospital for treatment.
All three vehicles were towed to the La Horquetta Police Station. Investigations are ongoing.
