A Pe­tit Val­ley man plead­ed guilty to sev­en counts of as­sault af­ter he at­tacked and bit po­lice of­fi­cers try­ing to ar­rest him dur­ing an in­ci­dent last Fri­day night.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cers were on pa­trol on the East­ern Main Road just be­fore mid­night when they no­ticed the man curs­ing at by­standers and act­ing in a dis­or­der­ly man­ner.

Po­lice warned the man, who cursed the of­fi­cers in re­sponse.

Of­fi­cers tried to sub­due him but were beat­en and bit­ten by the man, which led to two of­fi­cers re­ceiv­ing a frac­tured hand and a frac­tured arm, while oth­ers re­ceived un­spec­i­fied in­juries.

The man was even­tu­al­ly over­pow­ered and tak­en to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion, where he was charged with two counts of as­sault, two counts of as­sault­ing po­lice of­fi­cers, re­sist­ing ar­rest, dis­or­der­ly be­hav­iour and ob­scene lan­guage.

Po­lice said the man plead­ed guilty and was de­nied bail.

He is ex­pect­ed to re­turn to court on May 12 for sen­tenc­ing.
