A Petit Valley man pleaded guilty to seven counts of assault after he attacked and bit police officers trying to arrest him during an incident last Friday night.
Police said the officers were on patrol on the Eastern Main Road just before midnight when they noticed the man cursing at bystanders and acting in a disorderly manner.
Police warned the man, who cursed the officers in response.
Officers tried to subdue him but were beaten and bitten by the man, which led to two officers receiving a fractured hand and a fractured arm, while others received unspecified injuries.
The man was eventually overpowered and taken to the Arouca Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, disorderly behaviour and obscene language.
Police said the man pleaded guilty and was denied bail.
He is expected to return to court on May 12 for sentencing.
