Man shoots himself after argument over money

A fam­i­ly from St John Road, Broth­er’s Road, Rio Claro re­turned from church on Fri­day morn­ing to find 22-year-old Isa­iah Bi­nasarie dead.

Po­lice be­lieve Bi­nasarie took his own life us­ing his fa­ther’s li­censed shot­gun.

Po­lice say around 6:45 am on Fri­day, Bi­nasarie ar­gued with a rel­a­tive af­ter be­ing de­nied mon­ey to at­tend an event. The dis­agree­ment es­ca­lat­ed when the rel­a­tive al­so stopped him from leav­ing the house.

An hour lat­er, around 7:45 am, oth­er fam­i­ly mem­bers left home for church, leav­ing Bi­nasarie alone. When they re­turned around 11:45 am, his sis­ter went to check on him. Po­lice said she found him un­re­spon­sive, seat­ed in a chair in his bed­room with blood at his mouth and a shot­gun near­by.

She raised an alarm and con­tact­ed po­lice, who re­spond­ed quick­ly. Of­fi­cers found Bi­nasarie in the same po­si­tion, his head slumped for­ward, with a Rem­ing­ton 11-87 twelve-gauge shot­gun—his fa­ther’s li­censed firearm—lean­ing against the wall.

The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer ar­rived on the scene and de­clared him dead. His body was tak­en to the Foren­sic Sci­ences Cen­tre in St James, where an au­top­sy will be per­formed.

Po­lice have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the in­ci­dent.
