A man from Carapichaima was allegedly shot and wounded during a police-involved shooting in Talparo on Friday night.
According to a police report, at about 10.20 pm PC Mahabir and PC Hernandez responded to a matter along the Talparo Main Road in Talparo. Upon arrival, they saw a few men standing at the side of the road. As they exited the marked police vehicle, Hernandez allegedly saw one of the men pull out a firearm from his waist and pointed it at them.
Hernandez fired one 9mm round from his service pistol hitting the suspect in the left upper thigh. When police retrieved the weapon, they discovered it was an imitation firearm.
The wounded man was taken to the Arima Health Facility by the officers where he was treated.
