A 35-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot while washing his car in Carnbee last night.

The victim, Akim Baynes, a facility technician, was at Bay Street around 6:15 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up.

Police said a man unknown to Baynes exited the vehicle, pointed a firearm at him, and opened fire. The gunman then returned to the car and escaped.

Baynes felt a burning sensation in his left leg and realised he had been shot. Someone nearby assisted him and took him to the Scarborough Regional Hospital, where he remains warded in stable condition.

Shirvan police are continuing investigations.
