Recording an altercation on his cellphone may have led to the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old labourer in Longdenville on Monday, police said.
Kyle Edmund, of Flemming Street, died while receiving treatment at the Chaguanas Health Facility. A 17-year-old boy was also injured during the incident.
Police were told that around 6.30 pm, Edmund and the teenager were standing along Flemming Street, near their home, observing an altercation between a man they knew and a group of individuals. Edmund was reportedly recording the incident on his cellphone.
Investigators said a suspect approached Edmund and stabbed him twice—once in the right shoulder and once in the left side of the chest. The teenager sustained a minor wound to his upper right back.
After being stabbed, Edmund ran a short distance into a nearby resident’s yard, where he collapsed. The suspect fled the scene.
The teenager declined medical treatment, police said.
Homicide officers are continuing investigations.
