A man want­ed in con­nec­tion with sev­er­al re­cent homi­cides was killed dur­ing a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing in Mor­vant on Tues­day morn­ing.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man as Ke­beedy “Rhi­no” Per­pi­gnac, who was al­so the sub­ject of an out­stand­ing Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­der.

Be­tween 2 am and 6 am, of­fi­cers from the Mor­vant Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion and San Juan CID con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion in the Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion dis­trict.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers, act­ing on in­tel­li­gence, went to Per­pi­gnac’s res­i­dence at Clarence Cir­cu­lar, Nev­er Dirty, Mor­vant.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, of­fi­cers an­nounced their pres­ence and Per­pi­gnac con­front­ed them with a firearm.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers or­dered him to drop the weapon, but he re­fused and en­gaged them.

The of­fi­cers then dis­charged their firearms in his di­rec­tion in ac­cor­dance with the TTPS Use of Force Pol­i­cy.

Per­pi­gnac was wound­ed and tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he died.

Po­lice sub­se­quent­ly searched the premis­es and re­cov­ered an AR-15 ri­fle, 71 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion and 16 rounds of 7.62 am­mu­ni­tion.

They al­so found a blue swiv­el light, two blue strobe lights, two black bul­let­proof vests, tac­ti­cal gloves, hand­cuffs and a full cam­ou­flage uni­form.

Po­lice said Per­pi­gnac was a per­son of in­ter­est in sev­er­al re­cent homi­cides in the Mor­vant and Besson Street po­lice sta­tion dis­tricts.
