A 44-year-old woman remains warded in a critical condition after she was shot while on her way home in Marabella on Thursday.

Preliminary police inquiries stated around 6.20 pm, Jacqueline Joseph was returning from Williams Food Cottage when a white vehicle, make and model unknown, pulled up beside her along Boodoosingh Drive.

Several gunshots were fired, and the vehicle sped off in an unknown direction. She collapsed in front a resident’s premises and was subsequently transported by the police to the San Fernando General Hospital.

Police did not disclose a motive for the shooting.

Investigators recovered ten spent 9 mm shells and two projectiles at the scene. Residents were interviewed, and efforts to obtain camera footage are ongoing.
