A man who was re­leased from prison back in De­cem­ber, and whom it was be­lieved had re­cent­ly is­sued threats to gang mem­bers at Mara­cas Bay over drug turf, was gunned down on Wednes­day.

Po­lice said Jo­hanathan Lawrence John­son, 32, of San­ta Cruz Trail Road, Mara­cas Old Bay Road, was shot mul­ti­ple times around 6 pm.

Res­i­dents alert­ed po­lice af­ter gun­shots were heard in the area, fol­low­ing which re­spond­ing of­fi­cers found John­son’s body be­hind his moth­er’s house.

John­son, who worked as a loader, was found ly­ing on his stom­ach.

A to­tal of 16 spent 5.56mm shell cas­ings, of which four bore the mark­ings TTAG (T&T Air Guard), and 14 spent 9mm shell cas­ings were found at the scene.

Po­lice said John­son left home around 5.45 pm to go to a near­by shop to pur­chase cig­a­rettes and some­thing to eat, fol­low­ing which gun­shots were heard. Eye­wit­ness­es told po­lice four masked men were seen chas­ing John­son while shoot­ing at him.

The sus­pects lat­er fled in a wait­ing Ti­i­da.
