In a display of unity and devotion, more than 1,000 people dressed in red took to the streets of central Trinidad, marching along Freeport, Todds Road, yesterday. The event, led by Pundit Krishen Ramdeen head of the Isha Organisation of T&T, was a call for harmony in the Hindu community.
The four-kilometre walk from the Trinidad Sevashram Sangh to the Isha Organisation and Ashram at Rodney Road was deeply spiritual. Devotees chanted in reverence to Lord Hanuman, the Hindu deity symbolising strength and devotion.
Pundit Ramdeen emphasised the significance of the gathering, revealing that 27 Hindu organisations had united in this symbolic journey, aiming to dissolve divisions and foster a stronger community spirit.
“T&T is beautiful, T&T is diverse—that’s who we are,” he said, highlighting the country’s rich cultural fabric.
The choice of red was not a coincidence—it represents the power and energy of Lord Hanuman. With Hanuman Jayanti just around the corner on April 12, the event set the tone for the upcoming celebrations.
Kicking off at 6 am, the march was further enriched by a performance from the MC Bean Ramleela Group, whose dramatic portrayal of sacred tales added to the event’s vibrancy.
