Act­ing Pres­i­dent Wade Mark has ex­tend­ed warm greet­ings to the Hin­du com­mu­ni­ty in T&T and around the world as they cel­e­brate Di­vali 2025, em­pha­siz­ing the fes­ti­val’s en­dur­ing mes­sage of light, re­silience, and uni­ty.

In his mes­sage, Mark high­light­ed the sto­ry of Lord Ra­ma and Moth­er Si­ta, whose re­turn to Ay­o­d­hya af­ter 14 years in ex­ile sym­bol­izes tri­umph, du­ty, and the en­dur­ing bonds that unite fam­i­lies and com­mu­ni­ties. He not­ed that the light­ing of deyas is more than a beau­ti­ful tra­di­tion, serv­ing as a re­minder that “even a sin­gle light can dis­pel dark­ness.”

Mark said Di­vali is al­so a time for re­flec­tion on per­son­al and na­tion­al trans­for­ma­tion. Its val­ues of free­dom, in­tegri­ty, truth, and jus­tice, he added, can guide cit­i­zens to­ward en­light­en­ment. He urged all Trinida­di­ans to be “bear­ers of light in the lives of those around us—show­ing love and com­pas­sion where there is anger, sow­ing un­der­stand­ing where there is con­fu­sion, and bring­ing peace where there is en­mi­ty.”

The act­ing pres­i­dent fur­ther em­pha­sised that the fes­ti­val re­in­forces na­tion­al uni­ty in a di­verse so­ci­ety and en­cour­aged cit­i­zens to use the oc­ca­sion to up­lift them­selves and their com­mu­ni­ties. He wished the na­tion joy, peace, and spir­i­tu­al re­new­al this Di­vali.
