Mayaro MP Rushton Paray wants to rename the Mayaro Library to the Michael Anthony Mayaro Library to honour the indelible impact the author and historian played in the community.
MP Paray paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Michael Anthony at his funeral service on Church Road, Mayaro.
The Mayaro MP acknowledged Anthony's unmatched contributions to the nation's literary heritage and national consciousness.
“While words may fall short, it is our duty to encapsulate Anthony’s lifelong commitment to the art of writing,” MP Paray stressed.
Offering deepest condolences to the family and admirers of Anthony, he recognised the late author and historian as a monumental figure who forever linked global acclaim to local roots.
MP Paray also advocated for incorporating Anthony’s works into the national educational curriculum to benefit future generations.
Further proposals included the creation of a Michael Anthony Literary Festival, as well as a youth writing competition to inspire budding writers.
MP Paray urged citizens to continue sharing Anthony’s stories, disseminating his wisdom, and striving toward the vision he had for our nation.
"May Michael Anthony rest in eternal peace, secure in the knowledge that he has left an indelible mark on us all," MP Paray said.
