Member of PM’s Doha delegation tests COVID positive

The Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter has is­sued a state­ment re­port­ing that a mem­ber of the team sup­port­ing the Prime Min­is­ter’s del­e­ga­tion to Do­ha, Qatar, has test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19, af­ter test­ing neg­a­tive on two PCR tests.

How­ev­er, oth­er mem­bers of the del­e­ga­tion re­main neg­a­tive.

The state­ment fol­lows…

The Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter wish­es to ad­vise that a mem­ber of the sup­port staff team that ac­com­pa­nied the Trinidad and To­ba­go del­e­ga­tion to Do­ha, Qatar has test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19.

The of­fi­cer test­ed neg­a­tive via a PCR test be­fore de­par­ture and again test­ed neg­a­tive on ar­rival at the air­port in Qatar.

How­ev­er, a sub­se­quent test at the ho­tel pro­duced a pos­i­tive re­sult. 

The of­fi­cer is cur­rent­ly in iso­la­tion and un­der med­ical su­per­vi­sion.

The test re­sults for the oth­er mem­bers of the del­e­ga­tion re­main neg­a­tive.

Mean­while, Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley con­tin­ues to rep­re­sent the coun­try’s in­ter­ests in sev­er­al high-lev­el meet­ings and dis­cus­sions in Do­ha.

Ac­cord­ing to the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, Dr Row­ley met with the Pres­i­dent of the Is­lam­ic Re­pub­lic of Iran, His Ex­cel­len­cy Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in Do­ha, Qatar to­day, Mon­day 21st Feb­ru­ary 2022.

“Both lead­ers are in Do­ha for the Sixth Sum­mit of Heads of State and Gov­ern­ment of the Gas Ex­port­ing Coun­tries Fo­rum (GECF). Dis­cus­sions in­clud­ed a fo­cus on the role of nat­ur­al gas in the glob­al en­er­gy land­scape,” the PM’s Of­fice re­lease re­vealed.

The PM is ex­pect­ed to de­liv­er a Na­tion­al State­ment at the GECF sum­mit to­mor­row, Tues­day 22nd Feb­ru­ary 2022.

He al­so is ex­pect­ed to meet to­mor­row with Amir of the State of Qatar, His High­ness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
