Minister Kesar fully briefed on SW Soldado Field incident

Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries (MEEI), Ernesto Ke­sar MP, has been ful­ly briefed on the in­ci­dent at Clus­ter S-912 in the South-West Sol­da­do Field, which oc­curred on Fri­day, and a team from the Min­istry con­tin­ues to work close­ly with Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed, to re­solve the is­sue.

A state­ment from the Min­istry con­firms that since the in­ci­dent was re­port­ed, the MEEI has re­mained ful­ly en­gaged in as­sist­ing Her­itage.

“The MEEI has as­signed a tech­ni­cal team on the ground who are ac­tive­ly mon­i­tor­ing the re­sponse op­er­a­tion,” the state­ment re­vealed.

The Min­istry re­ports that Min­is­ter Ke­sar vis­it­ed the Her­itage Off­shore Base to re­ceive in-per­son brief­in­gs on the on­go­ing in­ci­dent man­age­ment. Al­so present at the brief­ing was Deputy May­or of the Siparia Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion, Shankar Teelucks­ingh.

The Min­istry said Min­is­ter Ke­sar and Deputy May­or Teelucks­ingh were pro­vid­ed with “a back­ground on the in­ci­dent, an up­date on the ac­tions tak­en thus far, and the planned ac­tiv­i­ties in the up­com­ing op­er­a­tional pe­ri­ods.”

“Dis­cus­sions were fo­cused on un­der­tak­ing ef­fec­tive ac­tions in mit­i­gat­ing the risks of fur­ther is­sues aris­ing from the in­ci­dent,” the Min­istry’s re­lease said.

It added: “Both Min­is­ter Ke­sar and Deputy May­or Teelucks­ingh con­veyed their con­tin­ued sup­port in pro­vid­ing any req­ui­site as­sis­tance to Her­itage in ad­dress­ing this in­ci­dent.”
