Health minister Terrence Deyalsingh today announced that the Point Fortin General Hospital will be decommissioned as a COVID-19 facility and subsequently returned to the public seeking primary and secondary care.

Speaking at today's Ministry of Health press conference, Minister Deyalsingh said as of tomorrow, Thursday 10 February 2022, no new COVID-19 patients will be admitted to the hospital.

He added that the remaining 28 patients will not be moved but sent home or to a step-down facility, based on their recovery.

According to the Minister, by mid-March, the necessary measures would be taken to have the hospital once again accessible to the public.
