Minister of Education Nyan Gadsby-Dolly headed a team of officials on a visit to 19 schools in the St. Patrick Education District. According to a press release from the Ministry the principals, teachers and students used the opportunity to share their plans, challenges and successes during what has been a difficult time in the education system.

Today, Tuesday March 15, 2022, Education Minister, Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly headed a team of officials, including Permanent Secretaries, Chief Education Officer and Director of School Supervision on a visit to schools in the St. Patrick Education District.
Nineteen (19) schools were on the agenda today, starting with the Icacos Government Primary School at 8:30am, where they were joined by School Supervisors for the District. The second stop was Lochmaben RC, followed by Cedros Secondary, Cedros Government Primary, St. Peter (Cedros) Anglican Primary, Granville RC Primary, Chatham Government Primary and Southern Central AC; reaching Cap de Ville Government Primary just before 12noon.
With nine schools completed by midday, the delegation headed next to Salazar Trace Government Primary, Point Fortin East Secondary, Egypt Village Government Primary, Point Fortin RC, Holy Name Convent Point Fortin, Point Fortin ASJA Primary, Point Fortin AC Primary and Point Fortin West Secondary. The last two stops for the Hon. Minister and team were Fanny Village Government Primary, where a new school is currently being constructed, and Vessigny Secondary.
All the principals, teachers and students expressed appreciation for the team’s visit, as it gave them the opportunity to share their plans, challenges and successes during what has been a difficult time in the education system. The MoE team had a firsthand view of the schools’ infrastructure and engaged administrators on safety protocols and other operational matters at schools. Students used the opportunity to interact with the Education Minister, as she asked them questions, shared inspiration and thoughts, and challenged them to make the most of their time at school.
Minister Gadsby-Dolly challenged students to, “take advantage of the education you are receiving, pay attention in class, do your homework, participate in school activities; be disciplined in everything you do, respect yourself and others and always be kind.” The Honourable Minister stressed that every school and every child is important and the Ministry, their teachers and their parents are doing their very best to support them. “Your principals and teachers have our support to do all that is necessary and possible for you.”
