The Ministry of Housing on Friday hosted a Home Improvement Grant (HIG) cheque distribution ceremony where cheques were distributed to 38 programme beneficiaries.
Present at the event were David Lee, Minister of Housing and Anil Roberts and Phillip Alexander, Ministers in the Ministry.
In his Feature Address, Minister Lee said housing plays a key role in strengthening the nation. He noted that the Home Improvement Grant is a central part of the Ministry’s housing programmes.
The Home Improvement Grant provides financial assistance of up to $15,000 to eligible applicants for essential repair and improvement works. These works include roof and ceiling upgrades, electrical installations, plumbing repairs, and the provision of indoor toilet and bath facilities.
Roberts assisted in distributing the cheques and encouraged beneficiaries to use the funding for meaningful home improvements.
Alexander said the programme continues to impact lives positively and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to delivering the Government’s housing mandate. He added that the Ministry’s housing initiatives are rooted in service and equity for citizens.
The Ministry stated that the ceremony demonstrated its ongoing commitment to providing practical housing solutions and that through the HIG programme, it seeks to ensure every citizen has access to safe and affordable housing.
