Six days af­ter her daugh­ter’s body was found ly­ing on a dirty mat­tress in­side a ply­wood shack at Pa­lo Seco, 25-year-old De­niel Rechi­er was charged with the child’s mur­der.

Rechi­er was ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Siparia Mag­is­trate yes­ter­day, charged with the mur­der of her sev­en-year-old daugh­ter Mc Ken­zie Hope Rechi­er.

An au­top­sy con­duct­ed on the child’s body ear­li­er this week re­vealed that she died from man­u­al stran­gu­la­tion.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice stat­ed that Rechi­er, of Pa­lo Seco, was charged on Thurs­day af­ter of­fi­cers re­ceived in­struc­tions from act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions Joan Hon­ore-Paul.

Supt Sean Dhill­paul, ASP Per­sad and In­sp Jones, of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion III, su­per­vised the in­ves­ti­ga­tions, while PC Bho­la laid the charge.

Hope was found dead on Au­gust 20 on a mat­tress at her home at 7 Road Ex­ten­sion in Pa­lo Seco. It is be­lieved she was killed the day be­fore.
