It’s pure BS! So said United National Congress (UNC) deputy leader Dr Roodal Moonilal yesterday, as he accused the People’s National Movement (PNM) of being behind social media allegations of issues with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s behaviour and leadership of the party—and he’s declared all UNC MPs are united behind her.
Other MPs said the claims were “the product of some warped ... mischievous mind.”
Moonilal, via a statement, immediately rubbished the claims, which surfaced on social media on Tuesday night, saying it was revealing that political mischief was afoot by the Opposition after recent alleged “drug money funding” accusations.
“Having collapsed, after being devastated in the recent Budget debates in the Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament, the PNM has returned to propaganda and pure BS,” he said.
“Coward and nameless operatives of the PNM are engaging in a feeble attempt to destabilise the strong and cohesive UNC administration, which has made tangible improvements to the quality of citizens’ lives in its first six months in office. I assure the nation that we’re all united behind the hardworking and visionary Prime Minister Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar. We’re in full support of her courageous stand against drug cartels, narco traffickers and human traffickers.”
He added, “As a unified and motivated team, we’ll continue to deliver to the nation...we equally alert the nation to look out for further PNM-generated tomfoolery as the UNC Government exposes the gross failings of the previous decade of non-performance.”
Also contacted on the post, Persad-Bissessar said,” Please add into your story that I also ‘lost a foot’, I ‘have a glass eye’, I’m on ‘dialysis every day, I ‘live on a ventilator daily’ and I’m ‘bedridden in a coma’ etc. This is just the usual embarrassing pattern of Guardian Media where anonymous trolls put out fake news on social media and then Guardian Media runs it on mainstream media to spew fake PNM propaganda.”
PNM MPs didn’t respond to Moonilal’s statement.
