Caribbean Air­lines car­ried 66,814 pas­sen­gers be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go in Ju­ly, as it in­creased flights on the do­mes­tic air­bridge to meet high­er de­mand dur­ing the peak sum­mer trav­el sea­son.

In a me­dia re­lease on Thurs­day, the air­line said it in­tro­duced ad­di­tion­al flights as part of its en­hanced sum­mer sched­ule, in­creas­ing seat ca­pac­i­ty to ac­com­mo­date the sea­son­al rise in pas­sen­ger traf­fic.

The air­line said the fig­ures high­light­ed the im­por­tance of the do­mes­tic air­bridge in main­tain­ing con­nec­tiv­i­ty be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go dur­ing one of the busiest trav­el pe­ri­ods of the year.

Act­ing Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer Var­ma Khillawan said the do­mes­tic air­bridge re­mained a crit­i­cal link for both is­lands.

“The do­mes­tic air­bridge is a vi­tal eco­nom­ic and so­cial life­line con­nect­ing the peo­ple of Trinidad and To­ba­go. Caribbean Air­lines recog­nis­es its im­por­tance to the econ­o­my of To­ba­go, par­tic­u­lar­ly dur­ing the peak sum­mer trav­el sea­son and we re­main ful­ly com­mit­ted to pro­vid­ing a safe, re­li­able and de­pend­able ser­vice for our cus­tomers,” Khillawan said.

Ac­cord­ing to the air­line, the ex­pand­ed flight sched­ule sup­port­ed trav­el by fam­i­lies, busi­ness trav­ellers, res­i­dents and vis­i­tors through­out Ju­ly. It al­so said the ad­di­tion­al ser­vices helped fa­cil­i­tate move­ment be­tween the is­lands while pro­vid­ing sup­port to To­ba­go’s tourism sec­tor and wider econ­o­my dur­ing the busy hol­i­day pe­ri­od.

Caribbean Air­lines said it con­tin­ues to mon­i­tor pas­sen­ger de­mand and op­er­a­tional per­for­mance through­out the peak trav­el sea­son. The car­ri­er said ad­just­ments would be made where nec­es­sary to main­tain ser­vice re­li­a­bil­i­ty and im­prove cus­tomer con­ve­nience.

The air­line not­ed that main­tain­ing a de­pend­able do­mes­tic sched­ule re­mains a pri­or­i­ty as de­mand fluc­tu­ates dur­ing the sum­mer months.

It al­so thanked cus­tomers for their con­tin­ued sup­port and pa­tience dur­ing the high-trav­el pe­ri­od, say­ing it re­mained fo­cused on pro­vid­ing safe and re­li­able con­nec­tions be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go and across its re­gion­al net­work.

The do­mes­tic air­bridge is a key trans­porta­tion link for res­i­dents, busi­ness­es and the tourism in­dus­try, with de­mand typ­i­cal­ly in­creas­ing dur­ing the Ju­ly and Au­gust va­ca­tion pe­ri­od as fam­i­lies trav­el, vis­i­tors head to To­ba­go and busi­ness­es con­tin­ue reg­u­lar in­ter-is­land op­er­a­tions. Caribbean Air­lines is the pri­ma­ry op­er­a­tor of sched­uled do­mes­tic flights be­tween the two is­lands.
