Wil­fred Nicholas Mor­ris was sworn in yes­ter­day as Min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter dur­ing a cer­e­mo­ny at Pres­i­dent’s House presided over by Act­ing Pres­i­dent Wade Mark. He joins Min­is­ters Bar­ry Padarath and Dar­rell Al­la­har in the of­fice.

Mor­ris was elect­ed to the House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives as the Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Ma­yaro in April 2025 and al­so serves as Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of For­eign and Cari­com Af­fairs. He pre­vi­ous­ly held the po­si­tion of Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter.

Af­ter tak­ing the oath and re­ceiv­ing his in­stru­ment of ap­point­ment, Mor­ris thanked the Prime Min­is­ter and his con­stituents.

“I would like to thank the Hon­or­able Prime Min­is­ter for the op­por­tu­ni­ty to con­tin­ue serv­ing our coun­try and our gov­ern­ment, and I’d like to thank my con­stituents, the peo­ple of Ma­yaro, who have giv­en me the op­por­tu­ni­ty to rep­re­sent them in Par­lia­ment,” he said.

Mor­ris high­light­ed the Gov­ern­ment’s com­mit­ment to eco­nom­ic re­form and the restora­tion of safe­ty and se­cu­ri­ty.

“The Prime Min­is­ter has trans­formed the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter from a mere ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fice in­to a de­liv­ery min­istry. She has been us­ing it to reach out, con­nect with cit­i­zens, ad­vance our leg­isla­tive agen­da, and build the coun­try. I am very grate­ful to serve in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter,” he added.

On his pri­or­i­ties, Mor­ris said, “My great­est pri­or­i­ty is to sup­port the Prime Min­is­ter in ex­e­cut­ing her work as head of gov­ern­ment and to serve wher­ev­er need­ed, par­tic­u­lar­ly in sup­port of my con­stituents.”

He de­scribed the ad­min­is­tra­tion’s ap­proach as “all-hands-on-deck” and reaf­firmed his com­mit­ment to a peo­ple-cen­tred style of gov­er­nance.

Ad­dress­ing on­line ru­mours, Mor­ris con­firmed that Min­is­ter Padarath re­mains in his po­si­tion.

“Of course. This ap­point­ment has noth­ing to do with any­thing cir­cu­lat­ing on­line. Min­is­ter Padarath re­mains the se­nior min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter and the leader of gov­ern­ment busi­ness, while Min­is­ter Al­la­har al­so serves in the of­fice and is the leader of gov­ern­ment in the Sen­ate,” he said.
