Morvant man not giving cops info despite being shot

A 37-year-old man was shot while stand­ing near a fruit stall in Mor­vant on Wednes­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the man was with oth­ers at Wal­lace Road, Chi­napoo Vil­lage, around 5.30 pm when a white Toy­ota Aqua pulled up. Some­one in­side the ve­hi­cle opened fire, hit­ting him sev­er­al times be­fore dri­ving off.

A res­i­dent took the wound­ed man to hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed for a gun­shot wound to the up­per right leg.

Of­fi­cers said he re­fused to pro­vide any fur­ther de­tails of the in­ci­dent and what the mo­tive could be. In­ves­ti­ga­tors lat­er can­vassed the area, but res­i­dents al­so de­clined to share in­for­ma­tion.

Po­lice found no spent shells at the scene.

Charles choco­late work­ers robbed at knife-point

A dri­ver and loader of Charles Choco­late were robbed of $8000 by a ban­dit in Aranguez on Wednes­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the men were in a truck which was parked on the Aranguez Branch Road, around 2.30 pm when a masked knife-wield­ing ban­dit walked up to the ve­hi­cle and tried to open the dri­ver’s side door.

On re­al­is­ing this door was locked he ran to the oth­er door and pressed the knife against the neck of one of the work­ers.

The ban­dit then snatched a lunch bag, which con­tained $5000 rep­re­sent­ing the sales and $3000 payable to the com­pa­ny, be­fore run­ning away.

Of­fi­cers of the Barataria CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
