Three men who were yesterday disarmed by officers attached to the Mayaro/Rio Claro Municipal Police during a brawl at their workplace are now the main suspects in connection with a police report of serious wounding and malicious wounding.
The men – two 18-year-olds and a 22-year-old, all from Rio Claro, are now detained at the Rio Claro Police Station assisting PC Sutherland of the Rio Claro Criminal Investigations Department (CID) with enquiries.
Police say during the incident, a 21-year-old man was allegedly chopped and stabbed by the three suspects with knives and cutlasses.
The 21-year-old man’s co-worker reportedly intervened to stop the attack but he too was allegedly beaten and chopped.
Both injured men were taken for medical treatment and the weapons seized by police were taken for processing by crime scene experts.
According to police reports, at 3 pm on February 1st, a man was at his workplace when a verbal confrontation began which quickly escalated. A team of police officers who were on duty nearby approached the group and disarmed the perpetrators who were later arrested.
Investigations are ongoing into the matter.
