Municipal cops disarm 3 suspects during workplace brawl in Rio Claro

Three men who were yes­ter­day dis­armed by of­fi­cers at­tached to the Ma­yaro/Rio Claro Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice dur­ing a brawl at their work­place are now the main sus­pects in con­nec­tion with a po­lice re­port of se­ri­ous wound­ing and ma­li­cious wound­ing.

The men – two 18-year-olds and a 22-year-old, all from Rio Claro, are now de­tained at the Rio Claro Po­lice Sta­tion as­sist­ing PC Suther­land of the Rio Claro Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) with en­quiries.

Po­lice say dur­ing the in­ci­dent, a 21-year-old man was al­leged­ly chopped and stabbed by the three sus­pects with knives and cut­lass­es.

The 21-year-old man’s co-work­er re­port­ed­ly in­ter­vened to stop the at­tack but he too was al­leged­ly beat­en and chopped.

Both in­jured men were tak­en for med­ical treat­ment and the weapons seized by po­lice were tak­en for pro­cess­ing by crime scene ex­perts.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at 3 pm on Feb­ru­ary 1st, a man was at his work­place when a ver­bal con­fronta­tion be­gan which quick­ly es­ca­lat­ed. A team of po­lice of­fi­cers who were on du­ty near­by ap­proached the group and dis­armed the per­pe­tra­tors who were lat­er ar­rest­ed.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to the mat­ter.
