A man died and a woman was injured after a gunman opened fire on the vehicle in which they were seated in Maloney yesterday. The incident occurred at about 12.30 pm along the Maloney Boulevard near Building 6.
Police said the woman, who was seated in the front passenger seat, ran out of the vehicle upon hearing the gunshots and sought refuge at Building 7. The woman, 35, of Arima, suffered an injury to one of her hands.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Marcelle Boucan, of Jacob Hill, Wallerfield, was later found slumped over in the front passenger seat.
Officers from the Maloney CID, including Ag Cpl Ali and PC Williams, and officers from the Northern Division Task Force visited the scene.
The woman was taken for medical attention and is said to be in a stable condition but very traumatised.
Investigators said Boucan’s murder may be connected to a one that occurred at Jacob Hill in Wallerfield six days ago. In that incident last Wednesday, Kevon “Boyo” Mark was standing near the Thomasville One-Stop shop around 8.20 am, when a silver AD wagon pulled up and one of its occupants fired several shots at Mark.
He was later found lying in front of the gateway to the shop with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said that killing was gang-related.
