Days after a man was found murdered in Gasparillo, he has been identified as South Oropouche resident Keston Wharwood.
Twenty-six year-old Wharwood, of Dow Village, was reported missing on December 20.
The Hunters’ Search and Rescue team, led by Vallence Rambharat, had posted a missing person’s bulletin on social media asking for information on his whereabouts.
However, around 11.55 am on December 22, a 51-year-old man was riding his bicycle through Massy Lands when he saw the body on the side of the road. It was already in an advanced state of decomposition and covered in flies. Wharwood had been shot in the chest and upper abdomen.
Crime scene investigators found three spent shells at the scene.
Wharwood’s body was officially identified by his wife yesterday. Police said he was known to them. Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
