The new Venezuelan Ambassador has thanked Trinidad and Tobago for its support of his country, especially over the last few years.
His Excellency Álvaro Enrique Cordero, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, met with Senator Dr Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, at the Ministry’s offices in St Clair, on Friday 13 May 2022.
“Ambassador Sánchez utilised the opportunity to express sincere gratitude to Trinidad and Tobago for its support for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, underscoring the strong position taken by the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and CARICOM against attempts to promote the exclusion of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela from the world stage,” said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
It added: “During the cordial exchange, Minister Browne highlighted the very good cultural and people-to-people relations between both countries, the increasing importance of Spanish for enhancing the relationship of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with the wider Latin American region and the importance of continued energy cooperation.”
Ambassador Sánchez had presented his Letters of Credence to President Paula-Mae Weekes ORTT, on 4th May 2022, while Minister Browne was on official overseas travel. Last Friday was the first opportunity for the Minister and Ambassador to meet at the Ministry, the release explained.
