A 39-year-old fish­er­man was re­mand­ed in cus­tody on Wednes­day af­ter ap­pear­ing be­fore a Mas­ter of the Court. Po­lice charged him with wound­ing with in­tent, pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to en­dan­ger life, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life, and dis­charg­ing a firearm with­in 40 me­tres of a pub­lic road.

The court ad­journed the mat­ter to 5 Sep­tem­ber 2025.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, on 7 No­vem­ber, the vic­tim was at­tend­ing to his boat along South Trunk Road, La Ro­main, when two men ap­proached him. One of them, armed with a firearm, fired sev­er­al shots, hit­ting the vic­tim three times.

Emer­gency re­spon­ders took the man to San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where doc­tors treat­ed him and pro­vid­ed a med­ical re­port.
