No bail for Princes Town man on gun charges

Wayne John­son, 35, of Canon Stroek Lane, Princes Town, has be­fore Se­nior Mag­is­trate In­di­ra Misir-Go­sine in the the Princes Town Mag­is­trates’ Court charged with pos­ses­sion of an il­le­gal gun and am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of firearm and am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life, and wound­ing with in­tent.

He has been de­nied bail.

A po­lice re­lease said on Sep­tem­ber 10, 2021, a man and his friend were at a house drink­ing, when one of the men al­leged­ly took out his firearm and be­gan play­ing with it.

Af­ter sev­er­al at­tempts to in­flu­ence the man to stop play­ing with the firearm, it went off wound­ing his friend in his back.

A re­port was made to the Princes Town Po­lice Sta­tion and mem­bers of the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment (CID) led by Sgt Teeluck vwent to the scene and in­ves­ti­gat­ed the mat­ter.

The gun was seized and John­son was ar­rest­ed and charged with the of­fences.

John­son is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in the same court on Oc­to­ber 14
