It has been one month since Tobago has reported a death from COVID-19, with the island’s death toll from the disease holding steady at 287, as at Saturday, December 10.
That’s according to the latest weekly update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), covering the period Sunday 4 to 10 December 2022.
The most recent COVID-19-related death was reported during the week of 6-12 November 2022. At that time, the deceased was said to be an unvaccinated person. Prior to that death being reported, there had been no COVID-19 related deaths for three weeks.
The THA Health Division report notes six more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections was four, as at Saturday, December 10. This represents slight drop from the previous week (November 27 to December 3, 2022), at which time there were seven active cases.
In addition, the Health Division confirms that one patient—fully vaccinated against COVID-19—was hospitalised last week in Tobago.
The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as nine people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period December 4-10, 2022.
A total of 10,991 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,982 the previous week.
