A 46-year-old Pe­nal man who was want­ed by South­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice of­fi­cers was shot and killed by po­lice of­fi­cers when he re­port­ed­ly point­ed a gun at them at a house on Pin­to Road, Ari­ma, on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers from var­i­ous units, in­clud­ing the Home In­va­sion Team (HIT), went to the house on Pun­nette Av­enue around 10.50 pm and sur­round­ed it.

The of­fi­cers an­nounced their pres­ence, as a woman opened the door and, on see­ing the po­lice, ran back in­side and up a stair­case.

Of­fi­cers en­tered the house when they were con­front­ed by An­tho­ny Corn­wall alias “Nomo” who point­ed a gun at the of­fi­cers.

Two of­fi­cers, one armed with a shot­gun and the oth­er with a Galil ri­fle, shot Corn­wall.

Of­fi­cers took Corn­wall to the Ari­ma Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was de­clared dead at 11.09 pm.

A black Jen­nings 9 mm pis­tol with five rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion was seized.

The 30-year-old woman, who was in the house at the time, was de­tained by po­lice.

On Sep­tem­ber 11, 2025, a Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­der (PDO) was is­sued for Corn­wall, claim­ing that he was af­fil­i­at­ed with a “rad­i­cal Is­lam­ic group.”

“The de­tainee (Corn­wall) and oth­ers are en­gaged in ex­tor­tion, mur­der and traf­fick­ing in firearms.

“The de­tainee and oth­ers plan to im­mi­nent­ly es­ca­late ex­pan­sion plans tar­get­ing ri­val gangs us­ing pub­lic shoot­ings and re­tal­ia­to­ry killings us­ing high-pow­ered firearms,” the PDO stat­ed.

Ch­agua­nas man kid­napped in late-night home in­va­sion

Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries in­to the kid­nap­ping of a 35-year-old Ch­agua­nas man af­ter he was ac­cost­ed by ban­dits late on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said an­oth­er man was asleep in the liv­ing room of the vic­tim’s Chiq­ui­to Dri­ve, Cashew Gar­dens, home around 11.40 pm when he awoke to see five men wear­ing black ski masks stand­ing around him.

The man then re­port­ed that the ban­dits sub­dued him and tied his hands and feet with plas­tic tie straps, be­fore go­ing up­stairs to the main bed­room.

Short­ly af­ter, the man said he saw the ban­dits com­ing down­stairs with his friend, whose hands were al­so bound with tie straps.

The ban­dits bun­dled the vic­tim in­to his black Suzu­ki Fronx and sped off.

Ch­agua­nas Po­lice were called in, who made con­tact with the ve­hi­cle’s leas­ing com­pa­ny, trac­ing it to Mal­oney Street, San Juan.

Of­fi­cers of the San Juan CID vis­it­ed the scene; how­ev­er, no one was seen near the ve­hi­cle.

As of yes­ter­day morn­ing, in­ves­ti­ga­tors said the man re­mained miss­ing.
