Officials are currently searching for two teenage wards of the St Jude’s Home for Girls, Diego Martin, who reportedly ran away from their caregivers during separate outings earlier this week.
According to reports, a 15-year-old girl was dropped off at the Barataria South Secondary School, where she usually attends classes, around 8.15 am on Tuesday.
However, when the driver returned around 3.15 pm to collect her, she could not be found.
The girl is known to officials, as she has run away several times in the past.
This ward is approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall; light brown in complexion and has natural kinky hair. She was last seen dressed in her school uniform, which features a brown shirt, blue pleated skirt, black sneakers and a backpack.
The second girl to be reported missing from the facility is a 16-year-old, who escaped her caregivers after she was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, for medical treatment.
This particular ward was said to have been in the company of a caregiver and security guard when she allegedly ran off and got into a waiting vehicle.
Reports indicate the girl arrived at the hospital around 12.45 pm on Tuesday for treatment. However, as she was being escorted to the home’s vehicle to leave around 5.35 pm, she pulled away and started running towards a silver X-Trail which had been parked near the facility’s mortuary.
The girl got into the waiting van, which sped off.
She was described as being of African descent, brown in complexion, slim built, with short brown hair, and with a small scar on her right cheek.
She was last seen wearing a hijab, a black Muslim gown, long brown tights, a black vest, black socks, and a pair of white and black Nike slippers.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of both girls is asked to contact the nearest police station.
