An argument outside a Barataria bar early on Saturday morning led to a stabbing where one man was killed and three others wounded.
Police said Ryan Morris, 38, was liming with three other men outside the R&R bar on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 11th Street at around 3.15 am when an argument started.
During the argument, two men pulled out knives and attacked Morris and his friends The wounded men tried to escape by running away but collapsed nearby. They were then taken to hospital, where Morris was declared dead.
Officers of the Barataria CID were called in and are continuing enquiries with officers of the Region II Homicide Bureau.
Extortionists threaten to sodomise man with drill
Police are investigating reports that a man was beaten, doused with chemicals, assaulted with a drill and threatened with sodomy unless he paid money to extortionists in Tunapuna.
Police said the man was at his workplace, a bar in Tunapuna, when he was called to the stock room by his boss to talk.
On reaching the stock room, the man saw his boss and two other men inside. The men allegedly beat him and doused him with chemicals before pinning him down. One of his attackers reportedly took a power drill and pressed it against the man's anus. The attackers then used a can of insecticide and a blowtorch and threatened to place an egg in his anus.
One of the men then demanded that the victim pay $20,000 by Saturday or he would be murdered.
Woman bites off bandit's finger in attempted robbery
Investigations are now underway into reports that a woman bit off part of a bandit's finger during an attack in El Socorro, San Juan, on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the 57-year-old woman was walking along El Socorro Road at around 3.40 pm when a man approached her and tried to snatch her gold chain.
The woman grabbed the man's hand and bit his finger hard enough that part of his fingernail and skin were severed.
The bandit then ran away.
Officers of the Barataria CID were called in and are continuing enquiries.
Security camera footage of the incident was requested and is expected to be viewed by investigators as part of the enquiry.
