One man was killed, another was injured, and a third escaped unhurt during a shooting in Cocorite on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Justin Arjoon, 20, of Farfan Street, Cocorite, St James.
A man of Fort George Hill, St James, who was shot in the left upper leg and right wrist, remained hospitalised in a stable condition yesterday. A third person of Sage Street, Cocorite, St James, escaped unharmed.
The three men were reportedly sitting in a red Suzuki Fronx parked in the vicinity of the basketball court at Phase Two, Powder Magazine, around 11 pm when a gunman alighted from a passing vehicle and opened fire on them.
Arjoon was alleged to have been seated in the back seat of the car, while the two victims were in the front.
The trio were said to have been waiting on someone when they were ambushed.
Members of the Western Division Task Force arrived to find Arjoon alive and rushed him to the St James Infirmary, where he later succumbed to injuries on the operating table. He was pronounced dead at 11.51 pm.
A total of 14 nine mm spent shells were recovered at the scene.
